The Respiratory Network combines the experience of a wide variety of people who work together, sharing best practice and support each other to make improvements to their services by setting goals and action plans where needed.
The members include:
- Respiratory Consultants
- Specialist physiotherapists
- Specialist nurses
- Patient representatives
- Education establishments
- Primary care practitioners including GPs
- BLF/Asthma UK
- Northern England Clinical Network representative.
The network aims to improve the quality of respiratory care across the region whilst reducing hospital admissions and health inequalities. Network standards are in line with best evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives to evaluate service provision and ensure standards and guidelines are maintained and adhered to.
The network supported clinicians to rapidly implement Covid-19 services such as Oximetry at Home; virtual wards and long Covid clinics.
The network has just set out its priorities for 2021-2022 in 6 key areas as per the Long Term Plan: Early and Accurate Diagnosis, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Breathlessness, Flexible Learning, Medicines Optimisation, Community Acquired Pneumonia with the golden thread running through each of reducing health inequalities and prevention.
